Try find the Facebook group for your team, instinct is fairly organized on Facebook we post rare sightings and some people will let you know where they are holding gyms and even whether it has open spots!
Also go scan for iOS is a map app that will show gym locations/team/Lvl......
My gym activity started about Lvl 20 till then I was just holding out on Lvl or evolve Pokemon till I knew I would get good ones... Also wait Lvl 20 for 10km egg hatch unless you fill up all 9 with 10km there return Max's out at Lvl 20...
Discord chat helps not very active but you ask a question will be answered https://discord.gg/cAW8YYV message team leader for private team chat assignment

The leader of team instinct?
Near me all the hardcore people are Instinct. A team of Level 29-25 Instict players control the entire park near me that consists of ~10 gyms. Its hard for me to efficiently get the defender bonus because of it...
You are wrong, I was at the loosing team in my city where mystic was dominating all gyms. But it was satisfied when i could take 1 down a day and build up. After 2 weeks instinct was able to hold 1 lvl 10 gyms and u saw slowly mystic towers falling down lvl 10 gyms were changing teams pretty fast. I was able to get 30 coins a day by battling gyms and restoring my bag in 5hours. now it takes me not even the half of the time to put my weedles inside the gym and claim 100 coins.
I am lvl 33 instinct player that only need a lapras to complete his pokedex. Whats the point now to play and lvl up to get that perfect gym defender and put your stardust in that pokemon with the perfect movesets when u know u will loose the gym in less then an hour.
When i was a low player i didnt compete with gyms because my pokemons were to weak so i went catching pokemons and grinding to get a spot in a gym. All that works has been lost there is no competition and competition is needed for those high lvl players.
"I'm in Team Instinct"
You leave that instinct gym alone!
As a member of team Instinct i would kill for a pikachu ;_;
There is no shelter from the storm
Mystic is team spoofer, team reddit and Ingress only had teams green and blue so yeah Mystic dominates more areas than Valor or Instinct.
It's made by the same company that made ingress. There are 3 teams Red (Valor), Blue (Mystic), and Yellow (Instinct). The "PvP' is really just PvE to take over "gyms" that are in specific locations. You fight the NPC pokemon that someone else put there in an attempt to take over the gym for your team. You can also power up friendly gyms to make them harder to take (more pokemon to battle). For catching pokemon you'll find them while moving around (higher chance in parks and grassy areas). You tap the pokemon on the screen then do a minigame where you fling pokeballs at it to catch it. The VR part is optional and can be turned off if you want.
I met a guy who told me about some great nearby locations to play at, which I plan to visit frequently. We shared lures for a while in a popular spot and traded stories and compared pokemon/pokedex progress.
Turned out he was on my team around my level. He then he told me how he had an instinct account which he used to remove the last slot of a gym to add his own pokemon to the bottom.
I was tempted to get into TOS and how that isn't fair to players respecting TOS and their fellow team mates, but I decided I didn't want to get into an awkward pokemongo debate with a stranger I probably wouldn't be seeing again.

TEAM INSTINCT FTW
what team are you in? I am level 33 team instinct, my gym record is 1 overnight.
* i just want to prefeces this by saying bball is a game of offense. In soccer youre lucky to score a couple, in bball you are to score a lot more. The defence is to annoy you, never to stop you. Getting block, shut down, shot clock running out, turn over. Thats all the offensive teams fault.
* ive played against people a whole foot taller than me and is player on level higher than me. This is either friendly pick up games, scrimmages, or i was a practice player. (I play 1, i have the luxury of having the ball majority of the time)
* whats your definition of risky? Fancy or threading the needle? My philosophy is youre not wrong if youre not doing it.
* lob passes is a tricky one. I personally throw it lower than expected and the ball is on the way down when he catches it. Ive threw a couple in game but really the only time i should throw it is for snaphat.
* getting scared when a tall person jumps on you. I have that problem before. Until i realise how stupid it is to jump and always analysing my situation. You just jumped? What can i do to punish you? I can make you foul, drive pass you, or just shoot when you land. (Never ever stop your dribble.)
* you dont have to gain everyone trust. If i play witt a stranger my first instinct isnt to go "haha look at that idiot prob cant play". My straight instinct is to want to know what you can and cant do and play around it. If anyhing i want to pass you the ball a couple of times.
* driving against taller people is the same as you would drive against anyone. Its call a mismatch for a reason. If a big is out on the perimeter guarding me ,who is guarding the rim? You got that figured out after you put him behind you. Now how do you drive pass a giant. Easy tight handles force one direction and poof. Slow ass lucky genetically tall person.
* whi someone blow pass you. This is pure communication. If your team dont communicate either of them is wrong. Best thing you can do is not get screen. Footworks. And ways aware of the surrounding.
* advice playing against taller and better players? Handles is wayyyy too overlook these days. People are going for and1 or shiftteam. Those things happen because of good fundamental handles and defence stuffed up. If your man playing good d no chance that happens.
* double team and do it right. Im short but that doesnt mean i cant be annoying.
* good crisp fast passes. Passes shouldnt be rainbow or slow. Make it quick and accurate. A bullet is fast so it can be deadly. Fast passes are just as deadly.
* Shooting. I dont means just shooting like dip, flick your wrist. No. As in shooting in a real game. How are you going to do it? In games you have to find ways to get a shot. In practice you are to practice or fix your shot. Off dribble kr off ball. Those are tools that seperates average players from really good players. Getting clean open looks. No matter how good my defender is. They can never take away your ability to get clean looks.
* always be smarter and analysing the court.
* i felt like , my whole arsenal was around my ability to essentially be smarter. I never uses my athletic ability to play if anything im always using the lack of my athletic ability and size to play. I am by no means slow as hell. I am just below average if youre talking about in terms of an athlete. Good enough but definitely have a lot of people better than me. My defence has always been subpar, i hustle a lot, ive been tortured by many crazy coaches before, my offense is always abusing your mistakes or creating it with "skills" and ive always tried to be that emotional leader and someone my teammates get motivates by. Its funny because im complete opposite of an aussie player if youre comparing the u17 this year in fiba. Many of them uses brute force, tall and athletic. But they have bad results, because they lack the brain that make sure everyone shut the fuck up and play the right way and with confident. Watching the u17 fiba is a big deal for me. I know some of them, and my brother is always telling me that aussie needs a perimeter player, a point guard that can play is a pretty weird feeling.
Isn't Pikachu representing team Instinct?
All gyms around me are Team Instinct with Pokemon higher than +2200CP
Not team instinct....that's Pikachu....
There's no shelter from the storm - Team Instinct.
Man, not in my neighborhood. Team Instinct has no chill at all. A bunch of 17 year olds driving around and taking gyms from 12 year olds and making fun of them. They have their moms driving around taking gyms for them and they throw a tantrum when another team takes their gym. In my neighborhood, Instinct are assholes, most Valor players seem to be kids, and team Mystic is the most laid back.
Im going today. IGN name is the same is my reddit name. Look for the guy wearing a team instinct shirt. Ill report what i get when i get back
I must admit I find doing this hilarious. Sorry to be a dick, but me being team instinct means I can never hold on to a gym, but my house is a gym and valor and mystic are always battling it out here. Sometimes it gets annoying but I feel a great deal of satisfaction when valor takes over mystic and you hear a little shout of joy, only to be followed by a "fucking instinct!"
I'm sorry for being a dick
Good one, [Go team Instinct](https://i.redd.it/fbj2kjvoll8x.gif)
I have so many regrets that I chose my team before I started to check this reddit daily and know about all the instinct memes
Crap, they're onto me....
"Pokemon Go Team Instinct Convention"

Accept when higher level pokemon are in the gym, especially with quick moves, takes a lot of skill.
That's when it's really valuable too, if you can matey out you can asphalt defend a gym while it's being attacked
I hated the idea of the technique at first, but if your a savvy hunter you can balance the attackers advantage yourself, and being on team instinct that matters!
I don't think many Illinoisians use reddit and are on team instinct. I am, but I'm southern Illinois.
that's more fake then a Instinct gym
>yeah i called your idea ass i didnt say shit about you and in fact agreed with most everything you said. But whats that? baby never had someone offer a different viewpoint to his own? better call him stupid that'll definitely add to the conversation.
...You DO realize that this applies to you as well don't you? "Oh I don't agree with his viewpoint, better call that viewpoint ass!". I'm just doing what you did. If you don't want blatant insults, don't blatantly insult. It's that simple.
>And for the hitler thing i brought that up as in this community is a not a some hierarchy of people we're all losers playing and discussing games. Just because youre a loser who discusses a more complicated game doesnt make you better than a loser discussing a simpler game. Get off your imaginary high horse youre better than nobody for playing a game.
I'm not sure why we have to be losers. I'm also not sure why you think I'm on a high horse. I'm just a guy that enjoys competition and I don't want my competitive experience ruined by people that don't have enough knowledge or skill in what they're participating in. That's not to say I have anything against anyone personally, it isn't even something that applies to only ranked. If I'm participating in any team or group exercise I make sure to look up what I need to do and get as much knowledge on the subject as I can so I can at least not hold everybody back. If I'm not confident in my abilities but I need to fill a certain role, I'll make sure to let my team or group know so they can compensate for my lack of knowledge or skill and help to guide me through it so I don't ruin what we're doing. It's a matter of courtesy. If your performance has a direct impact on someone else, you make sure that you come equipped with all the tools necessary to perform as well as possible. In Smite ranked this means: top gods mastered for reach role, basic knowledge of builds in each role, knowledge of how to play each role, game sense, a willingness to communicate, and an attitude of wanting to learn and improve rather than wanting to blame everyone but yourself if things go wrong. Too many times these newer players will come in thinking that they're hot shit and get absolutely crushed, and the instinct to blame everyone else kicks in which makes the game toxic for their team. This isn't all of them, I've had a few that actually listen, but a wide majority have no desire to improve. They only want to blame.
i don't get the hate for instinct, i mean the other teams divine them self just by mass. My experience is team instinc is we get shit done, most members i met joined because that way you can always take objects. But yeah we are the handycapped... Whats wrong with you other teams?
Fling the Pokeball faster and don't let go of it too soon. I really don't get how you only hit 1/60. Team Instinct!
There's really no point to holding a gym besides the daily reward. I constantly take down high level gyms now just for the XP and leave a CP10 Magikarp.
Im Team Instinct in East Kilbride Greenhills so stay away from my gyms lol
Team mystic here, Arizona. Valor and my team mystic are warring like crazy out here. We'd like you guys to join as some people from both teams are actually sitting at gym locations and constantly keeping it locked down, I even did it myself. In the past 24 hours, one gym near my house was under instinct control for about 10 minutes. Since then, I haven't seen a single yellow gym, yellow trainer, or anything.
Tribalism will ensure that very few people question the deeds or words of Donald Trump. They will simply find a way to dismiss it. They are too heavily invested at this point to back out of their support; base human pride and tribal instinct will not allow them to abandon the "team".
TEAM INSTINCT FTW
That's a hyper ball, not a Team Instinct PokeBall. Silly team Instinct.
ikr, high level Instinct gym, must be visual bug :P
Not where I live- team instinct has the reputation of holding the most popular gym locations while letting red and blue fight over everything else. We have a board game shop that's a gym, and yellow's been holding it down since pokemon go has been out. Place is basically untouchable to the other teams.
What I see at least based in my region:
Instinct - Most dedicated team, has gyms mainly rank around 5-10
Valor - Team that seems to take down their opposing teams majority of time. Most prevalent in my region and usually in groups.
Mystic - Team that never seems to be around when another teammate takes over a gym. Usually can find an empty spot in a rank 3 gym.
Okay, I put a video on the internet. In the video, I show myself bouncing a quarter on a table and it landing on its edge. People in the comments shout, "remarkable!"
What they *don't* see is the nine weeks of filmroll i have, bouncing a quarter and it landing in anything *other* than a remarkable position. So the reality is, no talent was involved and I got lucky in my video. I don't deserve my fame, because I'm not talented like people think.
Turns out, internet fame comes with a price: it fades fast unless you produce more content. So I start livestreaming my attempts to win the ball-in-cup game 20 times in a row. Three weeks later, I put up a video of me winning ball-in-cup 10 times in a row, a note about the statistical inevitability of winning ball-in-cup 20 times in a row at some point in the future, an aside discussing how a 10-win streak shows that statistical improbability doesn't preclude impossibility (duh), and I ask for likes/subs in the video. There's still a large number of youtube comments saying "remarkable." What those youtubers never saw was the *three weeks* of livestream wherein I can be seen cursing and shouting at a ball-in-cup game for 10 hours a day. Coincidentally, very few people who saw my stream (or have played a ball-in-cup game enough to be good) have any faith in my "remarkableness" anymore.
Now. In 2008, Nate Silver predicts an Obama upset, even though the major news outlets were enthusiastic about Hillary. He doesn't hammer on it super hard, because it's an unpopular opinion at the time. Some people pick it up and say "well, maybe this guy has it right, idk lets see how the primaries turn out."
Now its March 2008. Polls are trending towards Obama, and multiple primaries have narrowly gone Obama. The media establishment is still crowing for Hillary (and sending some badmouth Obama's way, too). Sensing an opportunity to rectify his position and spread his prediction around, he starts fivethirtyeight.com and starts to get a boost in social media circles. More people see the prediction, more people go "well he IS doing really well, and these guys have been saying it for a while now, maybe they're right? lets see what happens at the convention."
Obama goes on to win the presidency, Nate Silver is lauded as the new face of political wonkery, fivethirtyeight gets a massive boost in readership and perceived credibility. Silver and his wonks take a well-deserved break and focus on sports betting and some science/economy fluff pieces.
2012 goes by without much fanfare, Obama is uncontested from the left and wins the election in a landslide against Baseball Mitt Romney.
But THEN we get to the current cycle. There's no shoo-in this time, and fivethirtyeight has to stay relevant. Thank GOD its such a calamity this year: Donald Trump inciting the idiotic wing of the republican party to faux-riot? Bernie Sanders crashing the gates at the DNC and injecting true progressive ideals into the debate? Should be easy, right?
So, there's this thing in data analysis called [Data Dredging](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data_dredging). Its a method wherein a large quantities of data are manipulated to find statistically significant but ultimately incorrect correlation. You can start with no hypothesis, or some general hypothesis (i.e. Hillary is most likely to win, i can feel it, "it's her turn") and then shuffle the data around until it *fits* (or something pops out you can work with). Unfortunately, this is a completely bogus way to glean statistical significance from any dataset. But it's fast...
It is my opinion that Nate Silver goes by gut instinct, then makes the data work. It explains why, countless times this election cycle, he has stuck to the original line: "Trump is gonna get stomped before the primary, Hillary is the inevitable nominee." His team has stayed with this prediction even when every sign coming from *actual voters* (Trump/Sanders rallies, candidate-specific demographic surges, growing political unrest at voter disenfranchisement, etc) pointed towards an election year that wouldn't be so simple a "polls-plus" forecast could adequately predict anything.
And notice what I'm saying here: *there is no accurate predictive model for this election cycle.* Its virtually impossible, the field is too wide, the establishment is too strained on both sides. There is a massive populist groundswell in both parties that is clamoring for the destruction of the status-quo. Smart money doesn't bet on *anything* this cycle. Which is why it's absurd that fivethirtyeight has stuck with their line for so long. It's ruining their credibility.
Proud member of Team Instinct, thanks to this gif: http://gif.co/xW7H.gif
This is what I think of Team Instinct.
My wife is a serial Facebook shitposter. I have 14 notifications. Term of them are from her, about Pokémon Go. Two are from her about Bernie Sanders, her previous favorite shitpost topic. One is from someone else about Pokémon Go.
How is she doing? Who knows. Is it cancer, have they found out yet? Who knows. How does she feel about team instinct? Pull up a chair, this is going to take a while.
I'm instinct, and the gym is probably at 9 or 10
Have a gym bot and an account that was seen in 6 different countries (Team Instinct who leaves eggs at national landmark locations) near my gym...
Reported on Saturday... Will check back in a week but gyms in my neighbourhood are effectively on lockdown.
Team Instinct T-shirt.
Apparently team instinct joined are still funny? Trust Reddit to kill a meme lol
I live near a major city and mystic and valor control most of the gyms. So when I see instinct owns a gym or even just took over one, I'll never battle them until someone else takes over. There is no reason to since my gym bonus is usually maxed at 10 anyway. There are actually some level 10 instinct gyms near me that I'm proud to see.
Do you know whats wrong with this, hes team instinct...
Downloaded from apkmirror and been playing for around 3 days now, aile samma gym jamma 2 ta dekhe, 1 at Sijapati Saalik, Bhatbhateni and 1 at Saraswati Mandir, near Gairidhara.
Mention the locations of other gyms you know.
Joined Team Instinct.
THERE IS NO SHELTER FROM THE STORM
I.e. To a level 5 trainer, every pidgey should have a maximum of X CP, no matter if it started at 10 cp or 55.
I wish I could a gym for more than a few hours. The pattern in my small town is mystic/instinct during the day, then Valor takes over at night. Longest I've held a gym was two days when the game first came out, and the gym was a tiny church I didn't even know existed!
[Go! Team Instinct!](https://i.redd.it/fbj2kjvoll8x.gif)
So here's the thing. Coming into this I never expected you to agree with me, I mean, when does that ever happen? I'm responding because you're spreading information as if it's fact and I want people to see all sides of the issue. I have given you no reason to act with vehemence, I ask you do the same, and stop resorting to insults, thanks.
I said a Vaporoen, pre patch, meaning a 1700 Vaporeon, pre patch, giving the worst case example, it was MORE dramatic, not less. I didn't change the topic at all, you assumed I did. Again, you're trying to argue something that it completely irrelevant to the argument. However, I'm increasingly seeing you as a nit-picker that attempts to argue semantics to prove your point, so here you go:
"Offense has a MASSIVE advantage over defense, because the AI is dumb. It's MUCH, MUCH, MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH easier to TAKE a gym than HOLD it. Because taking a *NEW* gym requires travel time, and the gym you just took requires effectively NO travel time from other sources - they're already there whether it's a bot, a spoofer, or just high traffic."
> This is blatantly wrong, and shows you have zero idea of the vast majority of the PoGo userbase. Pro tip: It's casuals.
Look up the statistics, instead of ignorantly claiming something. The vast majority of the player base (the casuals....) are 15-20. It takes like 6-8 hours of grinding to reach 20, or about 10-12 hours of casual play. People have had plenty of time to get there. This, again, has nothing to do with what we're arguing, and does nothing to prove anything you are saying. You're arguing/nit-picking semantics and side-issues. Stop doing that.
> Literally the middle of Manhattan. Lol @ you using the most urban example possible to try and substantiate your issue.
This is you nit-picking again, and you couldn't be more wrong at my intentions, which were pretty clearly stated. You yourself said you were "fine" doing it in Manhatten even if it was a "little" harder because you had to hit **THIRTY** gyms. Your exact wording was "it was more difficult...but not terribly so." You downplayed thirty to hell. That's a BIG number. Ergo, we clearly have different views of what "easy" is.
> Yes. You did. When you snarkily and ignorantly said "No, you can do that", implying that you could not. You were wrong.
Here you are again arguing semantics and taking things (that you even quoted) out of context completely. Also with the insults again, man. We both know the issue here, and I'm *actually* saying, is it's not worth the work you put in. You can tell me "But you didn't **actually** ***SAY*** that, though, you ignoramus!" You're right, I didn't "actually" say that. Hyperbole is, like, a really common thing used in all manners of speech. It's pretty clear when it's used. The intentions and meaning of what I said, ergo, are pretty clear. That, again, is arguing semantics and we've already established you like to do that, but you shouldn't.
> Pro tip: You are not the only person playing Pokemon Go.
The disrespectful attitude aside ("Pro tip," come on man, you're better than that). Right back at you, friend. I even *addressed* this topic in my post that you quoted. I mentioned this whole issue already, go back and read it.
> Pro tip # 2: Your 'if you are willing to put in the time' disclaimer is blatant evidence that it does matter, as a 2350 Dragonite is going to take more time than a 1500 whatever.
Of course it is. I never, ever said that a 2350 Dragonite would be just as easy as a 1500 Pidgeot or whatever. You're, again, putting words in my mouth and arguing semantics (shocker!). If I see a gym, and want the gym bonus, I can spend 5-10 minutes taking down my said example, and then try to hurry on to the next gym which will hopefully have fewer pokemon and will only take a minute or two. The issue, as I've already addressed, is not the TIME TO BATTLE, but the TIME TO TRAVEL between pokestops. I now only have 1 pokemon in that gym, and odds are an opposing team member will reach it before my own team does (particularly if I'm instinct due to population issues. I'm valor, but the point stands for our yellow minorities). If it takes 10-15 minutes to drop a level 4-5 gym with high level pokemon, then taking out my 1900 CP Vaporeon will take maybe two minutes, three max. If I have to travel 5-10 minutes to the next gym then there's high likelihood it'll be taken down.
> Pro tip # 3: When you're complaining about how hard it is for you to take gyms, maybe stop trying to tell other people who are not failing at the game's objectives how to play the game, and start analyzing what you're doing wrong.
Again with the patronizing, unnecessary attitude. We're both intelligent beings, I think you can admit that, even if you don't want to. It's pretty widely accepted that the current gym mechanics make it a "lesser" game objective, just look around the sub and you'll easily see that. A lot of people want the gym mechanics to be redone, as well as something done about botters/hackers as well. The current system isn't working. I'm literally not doing anything wrong, if I *wanted* to take the time to get 10 gyms, I'm sure, after a few hours of grinding out gyms and attempting to hold them, I could do it...but then I would *actually* be failing at the game's objectives - I'd be missing pokemon opportunities, more than that, I'd be missing A LOT of social opportunities, which is **exactly** what this game is about.
Please stop making me have to explain, *in tedious detail*, every point I've made. You're obviously an intelligent person, you can infer the meaning pretty simply, I'd imagine. You're just being difficult in an attempt to "win" and that's juvenile. Stop it please, let's have a discussion, not this joke. I enjoy discussing opposing views, because I can learn things, but not when people act like this is a Trump Vs. Hilary debate. Back off of the patronizing attitude and let's have a productive discussion, thanks bud.
Aaaactually I just checked your profile, it has you literally arguing unpopular opinions all over the place. You literally live for the argument, and this is going nowhere, I think. I'd love for you to prove me wrong, though. Here's to hoping! Cheers.
I thought I was screwed when I saw that nobody was on Team Instinct. I couldn't park my pokemon at any gym! But then I got an Arcanine with a decent moveset and 91% IV and leveled it up - I realized that it's better this way because I can attack any gym. Leveling gyms to put in another defender takes years if it's already high level.
That's because Instinct isn't allowed to hold a gym.
I mean you could still say that if this was a gif of people who support team instinct
27 , team instinct. No shelter from the storm...
I'm on Team Instinct.
I like to think that team Instinct(Yellow) is the Bernie Sanders of the three, while team Valor(Red) is Trump...
Any Team Instinct wanna take some gyms? Don't let them take the gym at Pho Bac!!!
Just a little anecdotal counter-point to #1:
I am team Mystic, and it is also the largest (or most prevalent, anyways) team in my area. Unfortunately it is also the most disorganized and the rudest/dumbest.
Instinct travels in groups of 10-20, taking down level 10 gyms and replacing them with level 10 gyms in a matter of hours. You always see them with a 50-150 cp magikarp at the bottom, and working together physically at gym.
Only 3 times have I ever encountered another mystic player on foot. Once they responded when I spoke to them, asking if they would like help training up the gym as I noticed they were training it and had their spot sniped. They said "yeah ok" and walked off never to return.
On more than one occasion I've train a gym up to level 10 from 8 or 9 to put a poke in, only to be sniped by mystic spoofers.
I usually only see them driving around, eating hamburgers, waiting for their chance to grab a free spot. And I almost never see mystics training gyms, definitely never training it beyond what's necessary to put their own Pokemon and bounce. And that Pokemon is almost always a 1500cp clefable, the most obnoxious thing in the world to train against.
Every gym in my area that is over level 7 and stays that way, I trained it up, alone. And when instinct takes it down, it'll stay yellow until I decide to take it down, alone. In the off chance a mystic actually shows up, they won't help battle it. They just sit there in their car until I beat it, drop their bs cleanly and drive away without making eye contact. Even if I put a magikarp in a gym, it will never go up over whatever level I stop training it at.
The only other time I see those same players is sitting in their car at the best lure spot in town, pulling up and parking to take advantage of the three lures I just dropped. Then when the lures run dry they wait to see if I'm going to place more, and then drive away when I don't.
It's really getting kind of frustrating, being in a team of lazy jerks (specific to my area, I'm sure.)
Interesting perspective. Honestly, I'm kind of a hard case when it comes to defending gyms and also have small town fame going on because of it, so I appreciate well though out posts from fellow hard cases.
I like to keep most of my methods private (all player side, full of group effort, and completely compliant to the ToS), but I will say that while it would be easier in some ways if I weren't on Team Instinct, in the sea of baby red/blue gyms that is my home town, several level 8+ instinct towers stand tall.
Why do we stand above the muck in an urban location? It's simple: it's much easier to take down the level 3 mystic/valor gym near by than that instinct god tower. Initially, it invited challenge, but now most trainers accept it as part of the landscape to spare their potions.
Urban gyms were a great idea early game, but the problem they face is that there is so much investment to get to them that when people do get to them, they will be taken. Soloing a level 10 gym takes about a half hour+. If you just drove a half hour to get to the place you're probably going to take the time to claim it. Where if it's local and around other gyms, you most likely would pass it up.
That said, there are some gyms that are constant strobe lights, and gyms that I've learned over time "belong" to a certain player. You just have to keep trucking until you find the ones that work for you.
First of all, don't be a dumbass like me and cash 2 gyms in at the beginning of your outing when you might be able to nab more gyms and collect them all when you think you have the most. I do it more often than I'd like to admit: I am not a smart man.
Use a fuck ton of your weaker Pokemon with good type advantages to fuck the other team up if they have a 5+ gym tier.
Keep a heavy hitter in the last 1 or 2 slots so they can beat the cheeks after your first 4 faint, while dodging.
Be fucking mindful of the time it takes to use a full attack because maybe waiting and shit means getting more of the piss knocked out of you when you might be doing more ass-kicking with your quicker moves and more dodging.
Have a Lapras. Have a Snorlax. Use some gosh dang revives on the weaker Pokemon because it doesn't really heal much for all the big fuckers on your team. Doing this over and over, I'm always able to take down gyms of 6 to 7 by myself and it feels pretty. **Especially** when it's Instinct. Mystic can hang but those Instinct guys make me absolutely sick.
Don't expect to hold them long either. If you're like me, you have to find a way to get pleasure out of taking gyms *away* from people rather than holding them for yourself.
And remember: It's all in the spirit of Pokemon: Gotta Catch Em All™... Right? Right.
I agree with you man. I'm team instinct and there are not many other instinct players in my area. I sit there and fight a lvl five gym for ten minutes and when I'm healing my Pokemon someone just takes the gym. I feel like I wasted my time. I can't even get ten seconds to heal up?
I live in a medium-sized town (technically a city but really small for a city). We don't have any nests but do have a pretty decent downtown with lots of pokestops. Hanging out at Pokestops is how I've met other team members.
Local team facebook pages are a great way to get quick backup when someone takes over a gym. Someone set up fb team pages in my area & people request to get in the group. I haven't met these peeps except via fb but it is probably the one of the best ways to coordinate gym takeovers.
Have fun/go Instinct.
/u/AWildSketchAppeared here on Reddit is team instinct!
Go team instinct! No shelter from the storm!
We take plenty, but Spark needs to rehydrate with Mountain Dew before every territorial marking. Hey, it takes a lot out of you when you stick to the MLG lifestyle of a memelord (AKA a member of Team Instinct), it's only natural that Valor and Mystic squabble over gyms while we fill up on Mountain Dew for that pure MLG stream of victory that we leave on the side wall of the gym.
Either that or Spark is living up to the Instinct Stoner stereotype, and only manages to conquer gyms when he goes out for munchies.
"We are a team...and that team is Team Instinct" - Donald J. Trump
Team Instinct-chu should be holding a potato instead of a pokeball ;))
Instinct, while small in numbers, has actually one of the most dedicated members. I see mostly Mystic and Valor gyms in my area but when an Instinct takes over a gym they usually put in very very high CP pokemons
I actually get pretty excited when I see someone from Instinct takes over a gym. Proud to be on yellow.
No shelter from the storm - Team Instinct.
THERE'S NO SHELTER FROM THE STORM #INSTINCT
This is when team instinct slowly takes over the world one gym at a time
In my area, you can reverse team mystic and instinct in that gif, lol.
There is no shelter.. team instinct!!
When Team Instinct finds Reddit...
I'm a Instinct Team member, and I approve of this GIF.
Team instinct > Donald Trump
The team instinct of reddit politics
Thats what happens when Instinct takes a gym.
This GIF helped me decide to pick Team Instinct.
nice one team instinct.... all gyms can now be ours MUHAHAHAHA
I'm curious, is the maximum CP for a stage 1 fixed? Or can 1 Pidgey be leveled higher than another?
Team Instinct is the Bernie Sanders of Pokemon Go.
Searching for Pokemon
On the home screen of you on the map, there is a little white tab that shows pokemon on it, tap it to open the menu. Once opened it will reveal a maximum of 9 pokemon within your vicinity. Under each pokemon should be 1-3 footprints, each foot print determines how far you are from said pokemon (unsure what the exact distance is). Note you will see the silhouette of said pokemon if you do not have it in your pokedex.
A silhouette of a Pikachu is seen in the Menu
Tapping the Pikachu will single out that specific pokemon and be the only one seen outside of the menu. Under the Pikachu is 2 footprints
As you walk the footprints can increase to 3 or down to 1. Once the footprints have reached 0. The pokemon should pop up, if not simply tapping he pokemon in the menu should cause it to spawn.
To catch a pokemon you would just tap the pokemon in your map screen and it should enter the Catching Phase.
In the Catching Phase you will need to throw a pokeball and hit the pokemon in order to capture it. When in the Catching Phase a ring will appear on the pokemon shrinking in size and then resetting back to its normal size ring, try to hit the pokemon when the ring is smaller, for me it seems to be better. Note if you miss, this will use a pokeball. You can get more by dropping by a pokestop OR through micro transactions. I'd suggest you just wait by a pokestop since they refresh every 5 mins and obtain from 2-4 pokeballs per visit, you can also obtain other goodies as Pink mentioned in this post.
These are the types items I've obtained/know of so far:
Lucky Egg - 30 Mins of double XP
Incense - Used to attract more pokemon
Lure Modules - Like the incense but can only be used at a pokestop and wlll benefit everyone in the range of the pokestop.
Eggs - These are simply the same type of eggs you would get in the normal pokemon games. These eggs can only be found at pokestops, require a egg incubator to hatch it and range from 2km - 10km for it to hatch (Like in the game you can ride your bike up and down a hill). I've only hatched one egg and it was a pokemon that can be found in my area so what you get could be related to where you found it. Th max number of eggs you can have at once is 9. You will be given an egg incubator with unlimited uses and only ONE egg can be place into it, meaning only one can count the distance you traveled in order to hatch it. You can find more with 3 uses or buy some through micro transactions, so you can have multiple hatch at once.
Potions - Like the normal game, these are used to to heal your pokemon after taking damage, healing 20 health. The only way your pokemon can take damage is from battling gyms and or defending and losing your position at a gym.
Revives - After a gym battle a pokemon might faint, so this brings them back to half health so you can heal them with a potion, there is no pokecentre that I am aware of at the moment.
Razz Berries - These are only obtained at pokestops. During the Catching Phase you can give the wild pokemon this berry to enhance your chances of catching it but only for that one throw after using the berry.
Like Pink said pokemon require stardust along with candies to be "Powered Up", you only need 1 candy per upgrade but the number of stardust will increase depending on how much of the bar is filled, see Pink's post above.
Evolving a pokemon requires a lot more. The number of candies required varies from pokemon with 3 stages compared to 1 and how strong a pokemon can be.
Rattata + 50 Rattata Candies = Raticate (2 Stages)
Pidgey + 12 Pidgey Candies = Pidgeotto + 50 Pidgey Candies = Pidgeot (3 Stages)
Magikarp + 400 Magikarp Candies = Gyarados (2 Stages)
Reaching Level 5
Like most games you start at lvl 1. Once you hit lvl 5 you will be asked to pick and join one of three teams, Team Instinct , the Yellow Team, Team Mystic, the Blue Team and Team Valor, the Red Team. All each of the three teams represent the legendary birds.
Instinct - Zapdos
Mystic - Articuno
Valor - Moltres
I don't think there's a difference with what team you join, so assuming its all about personal preference, maybe they'll implement something later.
So after reaching lvl 5 and picking your team you can now challenge, train and take over gyms. When taking a gym you'll be taking the gym for your team, placing a pokemon of your choice to defend the gym (They have to be at full health to be ellegible to defend the gym. You can only put one of your pokemon at a gym at once. Others from your team can also send pokemon into the gym to defend it with a maximum of 3 pokemon per gym.
If you have placed a pokemon at a gym and they are defeated by a fellow team member and has beaten all the other pokemon at the gym they can place one of their pokemon to defend the gym and if your pokemon is the lowest out of the three, your pokemon will essentially be kicked out of the gym :(
It is good to put powerful pokemon to hold a position at the gym because every 21 hours while a pokemon is at a gym you can get stardust and coins, not much but its something. So placing multiple pokemon at different gyms is good because it will also add to how much you can get per 21 hours, the maximum I heard was 10.
You can train at friendly gyms to further enhance the gyms health, so it will take an opposing team longer to take it over.
Once an opposing team has beaten the gym enough times, they can take over the gym and kick you and your team mates out of it too. Leaving you with no reward for that gym every 21 hours.
Fighting opposing gyms allows you to have 6 pokemon in one run against a gym who can only have up to 3, so taking a gym and losing one is a lot easier.
Don't know if you actually made it this far or skipped down through my essay but now for some actual tips and not just me explaining the whole game.
When having 2 or more egg incubators, you should always put your longer eggs into the incubators with uses for you to get the "best bang for your buck", for example if I just put 2km eggs into my 3 uses incubator and a 10km one into the unlimited one. I'd used up my second incubator before I even hatched the unlimited one. If I did that vice versa then I could have 3 km eggs hatch while still having two incubators left to hatch more.
In need of pokeballs? find yourself a nice good place to sit and just sit by a pokestop. Every pokestop I've gone to has had a cooldown of 5 mins. I was lucky enough to find a spot where I could access two pokestops at the same time so I just sat there gaining atone of eggs, pokeballs, potions, revives and berries.
The game actually follows the time of day, so if your looking for that gastly, then try to go out at night. Your bound to find some ghost pokemon or something else :P
When in the Catching Phase you need to throw and hit the pokemon directly, but there is a way to gain extra stardust (up to 100) by the way you throw the ball. You can spin it before releasing and it should start to sparkle, this takes some getting used to but once you master it you can potentially doubling your stardust per catch (Each catch of an already owned pokemon is 100 stardust, a new pokemon is 600)
When ever you see a undiscovered pokemon (a silhouette) in the footprint menu, try to follow it and it should lead to a new pokemon and new pokemon means more stardust.
This game will drain your battery so in the settings accessed through the menu after pressing the pokeball at the bottom of the map screen. You should check the option "Battery Saver", this will turn on the feature where you can turn your phone upside down to put the game into a type of standby mode where it will still track where your going and will still vibrate when you find a pokemon (assuming you left that on) Saving a little bit of battery. You still have to have the screen on and actively have it on. Nintendo said they would release something called the Pokemon GO Plus, where it is connected through Bluetooth and is worn on your wrist. It vibrate when a pokemon pops up and your phone can be off when using this, saving lots of battery.
Article of it: http://www.gottabemobile.com/2016/07/05/pokemon-go-plus-pre-order-details/
Also wallpapers for your favourite team for your phone!
1. First and foremost, do not evolve/power up until you reach the higher ranks. Doing so at low levels just wastes stardust and candies on weak pokemon that you will eventually discard anyway. Once you reach a higher rank, you will start finding pokemon that are higher CP.
2. Catch and save every Pidgey, Rattata, Weedle, Caterpie, etc. that you find. Anything that takes under 25 candies to evolve is crucial for gaining XP.
Once you obtain a lucky egg and you have TONS of the above pokemon, use the lucky egg (gives you double XP for 30 min) and start evolving all of them. You will skyrocket through ranks.
**IMPORTANT:** When evolving Pidgeys, only evolve them into Pidgeottos, NOT Pidgeots. It takes 50 candies to evolve a Pidgeotto into a Pidgeot, but only 12 candies to evolve a Pidgey into a Pidgeotto. It's better to use 50 candies and evolve 4 Pidgeys (12 candies each, 4,000 XP total) instead of 1 Pidgeotto (50 candies each, 1,000 XP total)
3. Unless you are planning on using actual currency on the game, use pokeballs sparingly. I go through 100 pokeballs a day pretty easily
4. At some point, you might come across a pokestop and be turned away with the words, "Your bag is full".
The way I make sure my bag is always hungry for more items is by fighting gyms. It gives me an excuse to use potions & revives. Once you reach higher ranks, you start getting more potions instead of pokeballs at pokestops. Plus, if you beat at least 1 pokemon in a gym, you get XP. Its a win-win!
5. Walk, walk, and walk! Eggs are really important for getting those rare and awesome pokemon you so desperately want. 2 km eggs hatch the starters and a few others, while 5 km hatch mediocre ones. Eventually you will get 10 km eggs which hatch the rarer ones. Its important to note that the rank you are when you find an egg determines its maximum possible CP (not its min. though!) So don't hold eggs in your bag thinking if you wait until you are rank 15 it will be a stronger hatch. Also, you can only hold 9 at a time, so make sure you are constantly incubating them. If you have an open incubator, throw an egg in it!
6. If you are going too fast (driving or biking over 20 km/h) the game will not count those steps for eggs. This coincides with #3. Either walk or bike if you wanna hatch eggs effectively. Also, the app needs to be open in order for your steps to be counted towards the eggs.
7. Once you place a pokemon in a gym, you can go into the shop and click on the shield at the top right corner. Doing so will give you 10 pokecoins and a bit of stardust for each pokemon you have in a gym. To effectively use this, place a pokemon in as many gyms as you can and then click the shield to collect your coins. This can be tricky if your gyms are pretty far from each other because someone can just defeat one of your previous gyms (kicking out your pokemon) and you will no longer be able to collect the coins from that gym. Keep in mind that you can only collect from 10 gyms at once. So if you manage to get 10 pokemon in different gyms, start collecting right away. You can only collect once every 21 hours.
8. Pokestops refresh every 5 minutes. I have a friend who has 2 pokestops near the spot where he waits for the bus. 1 at the bus stop and 1 at the corner. What he does is he just walks back and forth from both stops while waiting for the bus. By the time he reaches one, the other has refreshed. Not surprisingly, he never runs out of pokeballs (:
9. At rank 5, you will be able to start fighting gyms. You will be asked to join 1 of 3 teams. Valor (Red), Mystic (Blue), and Instinct (Yellow). Start paying attention to what gyms are around you and who holds them most of the time before you reach rank 5 so that you can make a better decision towards what team you wanna join. For example, around my area there are mostly Valor held gyms, which is also the team that I chose. But I love fighting enemy gyms and so I regret choosing a team that is seen so often around me because I am given less opportunities to fight gyms.
Thats all I can think of for right now. You learn as you go and theres already a lot of information out on the web that you can look for yourself if you have questions. Have fun training!

My area has red and blue guys, but every time they take over a gym, team instinct takes it back the same day.
